Precious Granddaughter

Our precious granddaughter, Skylar, ROCKED her solo performance for Athens Homeschool Band! "Superior" rating!!! The highest she could get! The judge actually stopped her mom in the parking lot afterward to say she did really well. He said she has a real aptitude for the clarinet. Papa and I are so proud of you. We love you bunches!

Shark Attack!

This is our adorable eight year old grandson Aidan. He and his family moved to Texas in early June and we sure do miss him. Here he is watching television with his Papa.

Aidan is quite the artist and here he is hard at work drawing.

Aidan loves to draw animals. Look at this shark he drew! We think he is a very good artist.

Our 16 year old grandson got a haircut today. He lives several states away so we asked him to send a picture. This is his self portrait using a mirror.

Precious Granddaughter Lost Another Tooth

Lo lost another tooth...that makes 8 that have gone to live with the tooth fairy.


So Lorelei lost her tooth yesterday and her mama happened to overhear her outside asking the tooth fairy for 3 pops in exchange for her tooth. Well, the fairy heard her request and delivered 3 pops. When Lo woke up she was so excited...then Mom watched as she tip toed over and put 1 pop under little brother Elliot's pillow and another pop under big brother Indy's pillow. Special little 6 year old, Lorelei, shared her tooth fairy loot with her brothers. Priceless!
Oh my Lorelei is so precious! The tooth fairy story brought a tear to my eye. Her parents are sure raising these children right:-) Bless you all.

Elliot's Quilt!

Shortly after our youngest son got married his bride asked if I would teach her to quilt. Of course it delighted me!

We did get started but living in different cities made it difficult. Then several moves, birth of babies and home schooling took up so much of her time that quilting was put on the back burner.

Imagine my surprise when a few days ago she posted this picture of a t-shirt quilt on Face Book! The baby is now 3 1/2 and mommy was cleaning out his clothes but could not not bear to give away some t-shirts with special memories.

Elliot cannot wait for her to finish it and lays down on his t-shirt quilt whenever he can get away with it!

I am so happy to pass the quilting bug along to Julie, who is a very special lady!

$1,250 for Smile Train - WOW!

Smile Train!

This is Indiana and Lorelei holding my Pinwheel Quilt. I did the piecing using hand dyed fabric bought in Tucson, Arizona. It was machine quilted by my friend Ann Humphries and bound by Sharon, another friend.


And here they are holding the precious baby quilt made and donated by one of our very talented guild quilters, Dot Moore.

Lorelei is modeling this purse made by my friend Katie. It was given as a thank you gift to a helpful lady that arranged some of the fundraising events.

Thank you all for your kindness, support and generosity. We are happy and proud to report that through our combined efforts of online donations, the quilt raffle ticket sales, the kids lemonade stand and the pizza night...we were able to raise just over $1,250 for Smile Train...which means that we all helped to change the lives of 5 children. You truly helped us to spread smiles throughout the world and to our Indy. He smiled from ear to ear when he heard how many kids like him he was able to help.

I absolutely adore this picture. Do you see the third child standing way back by the door? He is 3 years old and does not like to have his picture taken. On the other hand he doesn't want to be left out of the action.

Indiana was born with a cleft lip and pallet. His goal is to share his smile and love of life with others like him, so they too can have the full life they were meant to have. His little sister Lorelei shares his goal and is right by his side wherever she can be.

Indy wants to help other cleft children around the world get the surgery they deserve. So his family decided to start this fund to help 10 children. They have already raised enough to help almost 4. Let's keep the SMILES coming!

Smile Train

Help Indiana Bring Smiles To The World Our grandson Indiana is just like most other 8 year old boys. He loves movies, riding his bike, playing with his friends and jumping waves at the beach. The fact that he was born with a severe cleft lip and palate has never stopped him from living his life to the fullest.

Before and After: Newborn Indy and recently at 8 years old. He is and always was a beautiful child. He is now an intelligent, loving, and giving child.

Fortunately for Indy, he was born in the USA, a country where having a cleft is quickly and easily repaired. Even in his first weeks of life, before any repairs were made, Indy was always thought of as beautiful and special in every way. Unfortunately, that isn't the case for so many other children born with clefts in developing parts of the world. Many times they are seen as evil and are often hidden away, abandoned or sometimes killed. Their lives are stolen from them just because their families are unaware of or financially unable to receive a simple 45 minute surgery to correct this small imperfection.

Indy wants to help other cleft children around the world get the surgery they deserve. So we decided to start this fund to help 10 children. We have already raised enough to help almost 3. Let's keep the SMILES coming!

Indiana's goal is to share his smile and love of life with others like him, so they too can have the full life they were meant to have.
