Snowy Day

Now I know that you people from up north are going to laugh but we don't get very much snow in Georgia, except up in the mountains.

After church today we came home to have a quick lunch before going to a reception in honor of our town librarian, who is retiring. After the reception our plan was to go to the grocery store and then to a class at our church.

After lunch I noticed that it had begun to snow. My darling husband suggested that maybe we should hit the grocery store before the reception so off we went. The streets were already beginning to retain a light covering of snow. We were only in the store about 15 minutes but when we came out the snow was beginning to pile up and we had some slippery trouble getting out of the parking lot.

Our house is at the top of a hill and it took us several tries to get up that hill. See the tracks on our driveway. This was after about an hour of snowing.

It kept snowing, pretty heavily, for about 6 or 7 hours. Our power was off for about 5 1/2 hours. After the township got the power back on it kept blinking for another hour or so.

View of our neighbor's house from our front porch.

Our back yard yesterday afternoon. We have had several days of rain and lots of standing water as you can see in the picture.

Our neighbor's backyard.

Our bird bath had 3 or 4 inches of snow around the rim this morning.
